Ken Cardella

Quick, elusive running back who shattered modern UA rushing records. Was third in the nation in rushing in 1953 (915 yds./148 carries, 6.2 yds/ carry avg.) despite missing two of ten games due to injury, earning First Team All-Border Conference honors and All- American honorable mention. 1953 totals are still eight on UA all-time season list. Broke school records in all-purpose running and scoring, rushing—single game (200 yds. v.s. ASU in 1953). At time of induction was still sixth on UA all-time list in career rushing (2,060 yds. /336 carries, 6.1 yds./ carry avg.) Returned punt 83 yds. for a touchdown vs. UTEP in 1952, still seventh on UA all-time list. First Team All-Border Conference in 1952. In 1953 was named Sigma Alpha Epsilon All- American, UA team Most Valuable Player and Outstanding Senior Athlete.
