Laurie Taylor
Laurie Taylor earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Arizona State University and Master of Arts in English from The University of Phoenix. She currently teaches English at Benson High School.
Laurie is driven by the belief that every student can be academically successful and approaches her work from a place of practice and with a love of data. Laurie’s teaching makes use of multiple strategies and group activities that make it easy for kids to learn how to find textual evidence to support their writing to demonstrate critical thinking. Her organizational frameworks help students master the art of writing—be it full-length essays, research papers or high-stakes testing prompts.
Laurie is a champion of the high school student experience, which is why you will often find her chaperoning trips and activities, and even supervising the building of homecoming floats. In addition to being the senior class sponsor, Ms. Taylor has also coached volleyball, softball, cheer, and even the drama team. Laurie also plans, organizes and implements professional development for staff. Laurie is well respected in her community and has changed the lives of students, and families, who have seen their children thrive under the guidance of this devoted teacher.
