Kris Kissel
Kristian (Kris) Kissel earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theater Education from the University of Arizona and a Masters of Theatrical Production and Design from Southern Oregon University.
Mr. Kissel teaches beginning to advanced drama as well as directing at Sabino High School. While students at Sabino High School might want to jokingly say that Mr. Kissel uses a bullwhip to get his students to perform, the reality is that he utilizes his caring personality, phenomenal communication skills and allows his students to be themselves through expression and creativity. His high level of expectations for himself and his students creates an atmosphere of mutual respect and admiration.
Mr. Kissel is very involved in the Tucson community through Live Theater Workshop as a teacher, writer, director and actor. He and his theater students volunteer every year at the Fruchtendler Elementary School fall carnival, running booths and helping students. At the annual Faculty Improv show, where students and faculty members compete in improvisation, the money raised from the show is always donated to a local charity.
