He consistently will podcast his lessons and uses Groupme to ensure that peer interaction in learning happens so that the students work to support each other in math. High expectations with continued support have helped his students achieve extremely high pass rates on the AP Calculus exams. Because of his reputation of excellence and his relationships with his students, his Sabino students communicate that they consistently excel in their university classes.
David is very dedicated to his students and is very good at engaging them in the learning process, through helping them when they need it, in school or out, weekday or weekend. He works to ensure that the outside of class time he commits to answering student questions via online class group chats on Groupme on evenings and weekends. Mr. Kula coordinates and runs AP Calculus study sessions every weekend. Even with a visual impairment he is able to sustain this commitment. As a past Taekwondo practitioner, he was close to a 4° black belt and during his time away from work, he is passionate about art that includes pottery, painting and drawing.
