Michelle Gerard
Michelle Gerard earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Science with an Endorsement in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona.
Ms. Gerard is an instructional leader who understands how to engage and inspire students. She recognizes children’s diversity of abilities and creates experiences that allow everyone to thrive. Her Adaptive Physical Education program for students with special needs includes Life Skills classes in a safe environment for physical fitness activities. Ms. Gerard’s passion for health and fitness is evident in her curriculum, which incorporates anatomy, nutrition, exercise trends and health awareness. She connects her lessons to real-life. During the week of Sept. 11, students climb up and down bleachers for 15 minutes in remembrance of the efforts of first responders on that day.
Ms. Gerard created a CPR program for all of the District’s high schools to meet the state’s requirement for life-saving training. She is the adviser for the school’s Link Crew, which mentors freshmen and new students through their first year at CDO. She facilitates a District-wide track meet for more than 500 elementary students and is a Special Olympics Coach for the school’s Dream Team, coaching bocce ball, bowling, basketball and track.
