Julie Ramsey - Amphitheater High School
Ms. Julie Ramsey earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Southwest University of Visual Arts, a Master’s Degree in Humanities from California State University, a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Arizona and is working on a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at Northern Arizona University.
In her work as an English teacher at Amphi High, Ms. Ramsey combines data-driven practices with a focus on building relationships and trust to help students obtain the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Ms. Ramsey believes that when students have agency and choice in their methods of expression, they become more invested in their learning. A former student, now enrolled at Stanford University, said this: “Ms. Ramsey was a joy to learn from, and her genuine concern and care for her students and their education poured through every decision she made, every word she chose, every lesson she crafted.”
Ms. Ramsey has developed leadership activities for her students and has created programs that involve elementary and middle school children to help build connections and prepare them socially and emotionally for high school.
Ms. Ramsey works to build trusting relationships with students, knowing that having that trust and forming supportive connections means that students are more willing to take risks with their learning.
