TEAM NOTES

  • With the win, Arizona improved to 4-1 on the year and 1-1 in Big 12 Conference play.
  • The Wildcats victory on Saturday evened the all-time series with the Cowboys, which is now knotted up at 5-5.
  • Arizona's defense is the only unit in the country that has yet to allow a passing touchdown this season.
    • The Cats limited the Cowboys to just 69 yards through the air, marking the third time this year they have held an opponent under 100 passing yards.
  • The Wildcats defense limited the Cowboys to just 158 yards of total offense, the fewest allowed by Arizona in a conference game since California in 2021 (122 yards).
  • With a fumble recovery and an interception on Saturday, the Arizona defense now has 11 turnovers created through just five games. They tallied just 16 turnovers during the entire 2024 season.
  • The Arizona defense tallied 11 tackles for loss against Oklahoma State, their most since piling up 11 at Stanford in 2023.
  • Arizona's 478 yards of offense on Saturday afternoon were their most against a Power Four opponent since rolling for 619 yards at Arizona State in 2023.
  • The offense's 41 points were their most against a Power Four opponent since dropping 59 on Arizona State in 2023.
  • For the third time this season, Arizona's defense did not allow a touchdown to the opposing offense. 
    • They have held opposing offenses out of the end zone in 16-of-20 quarters this year.
  • Oklahoma State won the opening coin toss and elected to defer to the second half. Arizona received the opening kickoff.


INDIVIDUAL NOTES

  • QB Noah Fifita logged the ninth 300-yard passing performance of his career. He finished the game going 28-of-38 through the air for 376 yards and five touchdowns.
    • His five passing touchdowns tie his career high, accomplished 3 times previously.
    • Five passing touchdowns are tied for the second most in school history; the 12th five pass TD performance in school history. He owns 4-of-12 five passing touchdown performances in program history, the most by any player (next: Khalil Tate, 3).
    • Fifita moved into fourth in program history in passing yards with his performance; he now has 7,296 career passing yards.
    • He also has 57 career passing touchdowns, which is now tied for the third most in program history.
  • WR Tre Spivey hauled in his third and fourth receiving touchdowns of the year on Saturday afternoon. It was his first career multi-score game and he now has scoring catches in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. Spivey finished the game with 80 yards and two scores on just three receptions.
  • DL Tre Smith logged his first career pass breakup in the second quarter.


TRACKING (updated following every drive)

  • QB Noah Fifita's 7,296 career passing yards are fourth most in program history. He is 322 passing yards shy of moving past Tom Tunnicliffe (7,618; 1980–83) for third in program history.
  • QB Noah Fifita's 57 career passing touchdowns are tie for the third most in program history. He is 10 passing touchdowns shy of the two players tied for the program record with 67 pass TDs: Nick Foles (2009–11) and Willie Tuitama (2005–08).
