Amy Link – Andrada Polytechnic High School
After graduating from high school, Amy Link headed to nursing school graduating with an Associates of Nursing from Grand Rapids Community College. She served in a variety of practice areas from neurology to labor and delivery. She continued with her own education earning multiple certifications: CIC (Certified Infection Control), MHTC (Mental Health Technician Certification), PHIC (Professional Healthcare Instructor Certification), AHI (Allied Health Instruction), and RPT (Registered Phlebotomy Technician).
She began teaching medical assisting at Andrada Polytechnic High School in Vail in 2012 while earning her teaching certificate. Amy’s students work as though in the “real world” clocking in, logging hours, requesting time off, etc. They learn not only medical skill sets but also workplace employability standards. And, Amy has NEVER had a student earn less than a passing score on the end of year ADE assessments.
Amy engages her students in Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA). Her medical assisting students have always performed well at HOSA state competitions, but they have also had a presence at the national level every single year. And, three Andrada students placed in the top 10 nationwide! Her students are also well aware of their responsibility to their communities running blood drives, organ donation drives, and fundraising color runs.
