Gino Strebing was recruited by a baseball coach at Rainy River Community College and graduated with an Associate of Arts with a Fitness Specialist Certification. He then earned a Bachelor of Arts from the College of St. Scholastica in Organizational Behavior. He returned to Tucson, accepted a position as a paraprofessional in Vail, and earned his teaching certification through Vail’s Pathway to Alternative Certification for Educators program.

Gino now teaches Algebra and Geometry at Empire High School in Vail. Gino didn’t become a teacher to teach math; he became a teacher to work with kids. While Gino’s innovative instructional strategies allowed nearly seamless transitions from online, hybrid, and in person instruction, his ability to successful incorporate the co-teach model sets him apart. All students in his courses benefit as they see multiple methods for tackling difficult problems.

Gino is also all over the campus. He runs Freshman Tutoring as well as Reteach for students who struggle with specific math standards. He is also the head baseball coach, a senior exit project advisor, and assists in the midnight madness leadership conference for student leadership on campus. And, Gino along with his players run summer sports camps for students across the District.
