Jennifer North-Morris - Marana High School
Jennifer North-Morris earned a B.A. in Mathematics from The University of Colorado, Boulder, and a M.Ed. from The University of Texas, Arlington.
Mrs. North-Morris, or as students call her, NoMo, teaches at Marana High School in the Marana Unified School District. She teaches Algebra I, Pre-Calculus (Dual Enrollment through PCC), and Automotive Mathematics in partnership with the CTE Department. NoMo is known for her high energy, warmth and kindness, and approachable demeanor. She brings math to life with tasks and challenges that encourage deeper thinking and application of the math to real-life contexts. One task requires students to consider rate-of-change as they predict the length of a bungee from which a doll will drop from the stadium and “survive.” In addition to teaching, NoMo is also a co-department chair, leader of our teacher-led professional learning team, and is a school representative on district leadership committees.
Outside of her role in the classroom, NoMo co-sponsors the Mu Alpha Theta club, the Origami Club, and has a long history leading other student groups in past positions.
