JULIE ANDREWS – MOUNTAIN VIEW HIGH SCHOOL
Julie Andrews received her BA in English Literature and Secondary Education from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She also earned an MFA in Dance from the University of Arizona, and she is “all but dissertation” for a PhD in Teaching, Learning, and Sociocultural Studies from the University of Arizona that she hopes to complete in Spring, 2023.
Julie teaches Dance at Mountain View High School in Marana Unified School District. The Dance program offers curricular dance instruction and Fine Arts credit for dancers of all levels of experience, from true beginners to lifelong dance students. In addition to learning dance technique in a variety of genres, students also have the opportunity to collaborate creatively on their own dance works.
Julie Andrews works with the Fine Arts department faculty to produce two dance productions a year, and she also choreographs the school musicals. Ms. A organizes travel so students have opportunities to experience master classes and performances both inside and outside of the Southern Arizona community.
Outside of Mountain View, Andrews supports young adult literacy as a volunteer and Panel Moderator for the Tucson Festival of Books. Ms. Andrews’s research interests include authentic assessment for arts education and creative adolescent collaboration.
