MARIAN JOHNSON – AMPHITHEATER HIGH SCHOOL
Marian Johnson has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Anthropology and a Bachelor’s of Science in Geoscience. She earned her double degree from the University of Arizona. Marian earned her teaching certificate through Pima Community College. Marian became a National Board-Certified Teacher in December 2020 as an Exceptional Needs Specialist.
Marian teaches Special Education Mathematics (Geometry and Intermediate Algebra) for grades 10-12 at Amphitheater High School. Marian makes learning easier and more fun for her students by including hands-on activities, videos, projects, and games that engage the students and allows them to apply their mathematics in meaningful ways. Marian creates a classroom environment that allows students to feel comfortable and safe sharing their ideas, making mistakes, and ultimately learning.
Marian heads up Project Graduation, a safe-sober event on campus, she’s a committee chair for the Oro Valley Cup Golf Tournament, and committee member for the Guns & Hoses Kickball Tournament. She’s on numerous mathematics curriculum committees, co-sponsor for the Gardening Club, Ukulele Club sponsor, helps with the Pep Club, and she’s been on several hiring committees both for the school and district. Marian’s the Head of Delegation and a coach for Special Olympics and a mentor for new teachers.
