Barry Boyd serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Football Equipment Operations at Arizona. Boyd oversees the entire equipment department and manages the staff, budget and facility. Additionally, Boyd oversees the Nike Contract as it pertains to the purchase of apparel, footwear, and equipment for 20 sports while also handling the purchasing, fitting and issuance of all apparel, protective equipment & uniforms for the football program.
Boyd works with Arizona Athletics administration on restructuring uniform and branding guidelines, while maintaining an inventory control system to track issuance of equipment & apparel to student athletes and coaching staff.
Additionally, Boyd ensures all equipment and uniforms comply with NCAA, Pac 12 conference, and university guidelines and regulations. Boyd oversees game day set-up and facility preparation for visiting football teams while coordinating equipment travel for all away games and special events. He also supervises Football Equipment staff and student managers and assigns work schedules and duties.
Prior to his time at Arizona, Boyd was an assistant equipment manager for the Purdue football team from 2010 to 2018. He was also the head equipment manager at Cincinnati and Tulsa. Boyd has also worked at Navy, UCLA and Oklahoma State while also spending some time in the NFL working for the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints.
Boyd lives in Tucson, Ariz. and was born in Florida. Boyd and his family lived in many places growing up as his father was in the Navy. He has one son, Isaiah.
