Matt Doherty joined Arizona in January 2021 as Director of Player Personnel, bringing over a decade of recruiting and roster building experience to Tucson and reuniting with head coach Jedd Fisch after multiple stops at the same programs. He previously served in a personnel role at North Carolina State prior to joining the Wildcats and held the position of Director of Player Personnel at Miami (FL) and Recruiting Coordinator at the University of Michigan.
Doherty's two stints at Director of Player Personnel (2011-2014, 2016-2019) at the University of Miami saw the Hurricanes identify, recruit, and acquire 34 NFL draft picks - including six first round selections. During that window of time, Miami's recruiting classes enjoyed four top-15 finishes and two inside the top 10.
As a member of Jim Harbaugh's inaugural staff at Michigan, Doherty aided in the recruitment of the 2016 signing class that included future first round picks in defensive lineman Rashan Gary, linebacker Devin Bush Jr. (2018 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year), and several other program starters.
A native of Andover, Mass., Doherty began his football career in 2009 as a Scouting Assistant with the New England Patriots. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Miami (FL) in 2008.
