Bakamus joined the Wildcats as the Director of Player Development prior to the 2021-22 season and was elevated to assistant coach prior to the 2024-25 season. He played a role in the development of numerous players during his time at Arizona, whether they went on to the NBA or to play overseas.
Before arriving in Tucson, Bakamus was a graduate assistant at Baylor University under head coach Scott Drew, and helped the Bears to the 2021 national championship. He assisted in the development of Baylor guards Davion Mitchell, MaCio Teague, Jared Butler, Adam Flagler and LJ Cryer.
A native of Longview, Washington, Bakamus was a walk-on at Gonzaga for five seasons (2012-17), playing a role in 161 wins, five WCC championships and five NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program's first-ever showing in the national championship game in 2017.
Bakamus (pronounced BACK-uh-muss) earned his undergraduate degrees in Sports Management and Public Relations from Gonzaga in 2017 and a graduate degree in Sports Pedagogy from Baylor in 2021. His father, Bill, is a hall of fame high school basketball coach in the state of Washington.
Bakamus and his wife, Blair, were married in 2024.
