2013: Indoors, McKinley competed at the Lumberjack Team Challenge where he ran 8.67 in the 60-meter hurdles, good for a spot in the final where he ran a personal-best time of 8.51 … He also competed at the Don Kirby Invitational and the Razorback Invitational … Outdoors, he ran the 200 meters and 110-meter hurdles at the Willie Williams Classic, clocking times of 24.01 and 15.82, respectively … His personal-best time of 15.29 in the 110-meter hurdles came at the Jim Click Shootout.

2012: Did not compete during the indoor season … Outdoors, McKinley took 13th place at the UA-ASU-NAU meet in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.66 … He competed in the 110-meter hurdles at the Jim Click Shootout, finishing in 10th place with a time of 15.88 … He clocked a personal-best time of 15.48 in the 110-meter hurdles at the Mesa Classic, good for 10th place.
