Doug Contaoi begins his third season as the athletic trainer with Arizona Women’s Basketball. He is responsible for the women’s basketball team’s day-to-day care, providing athletic training (AT) services and coordinating student-athlete care with physicians, specialists and coaches.
Prior to working with Women’s Basketball, Contaoi worked with the Arizona Gymnastics team for seven seasons.
Contaoi received his Bachelor’s degree in Physiology from the University of Arizona and completed his Master’s Degree in Exercise and Movement Science from the University of Oregon. Before returning to Arizona, he worked as an assistant athletic trainer at American University in Washington, D.C., working with multiple intercollegiate sports.
He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Collegiate Athletic Trainers’ Society and licensed in the state of Arizona. He is also First Aid and CPR/AED certified for the Professional Rescuer and a certified First Aid/AED Instructor by the Red Cross.
Contaoi also provides AT services for the Wildcats’ men’s tennis team and is the coordinator for the Sports Medicine Department’s undergraduate athletic training technician program.
He and his wife Deana have two sons, Mason and Braden.
