Claire D’Amore enters her first season as the assistant coach of the inaugural sand volleyball program.

D’Amore came to the U of A from Desert Sand Volleyball LLC, where she is the owner, director and coach of the club program. While in charge of the club program, D’Amore is responsible for organizing and coordinating team schedules, practice, player development and recruiting. In addition, she manages all aspects of business, marketing, program development, community outreach, sponsor support and sport recognition programs.

In addition, she has had success in her volleyball playing career as she was a member of the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) from 2006-10, where she established herself as one of the top defensive players on tour. She also played internationally with three first-place finishes in events in New Zealand, Jamaica and El Salvador. D’Amore earned a “AAA” rating (the highest rating) at age 17 by the California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA). While competing in the CBVA, D’Amore won every Open event played in 2008-09.

D’Amore is a 2004 graduate of Northern Arizona University where she earned a bachelor's of science in health promotions and education. She had a storied career on the volleyball court for the Lumberjacks where she was a two-time all-conference selection. In addition, she earned three tournament MVP honors and seven all-tournament selections. She became the first player in NAU history to record 500 kills, 2,000 assists and 500 digs. Additionally, she was the first player in school history to record five career triple-doubles.
