Adam Byars, a former All-American and team captain at the University of Wisconsin, is in his fourth year as an assistant coach.
 
“Adam is a great coach and person that contributes a great deal to our continued progress,” DeMont said. “We are extremely excited about having Adam on deck and all that he brings to the program.”
 
Byars joined the Wildcats from the Aiken-August Swim League, where he worked for eight years. For six of those years, he served as the club’s program director and head coach.
 
Byars graduated in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin, where he was a four-year letterwinner under Hansen and his older brother Nick Hansen. During his time at Wisconsin, he earned All-American honors. In addition, he was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, four-time Big Ten Championship finalist, team captain and team MVP in 2000-01.
 
Byars and his wife, Ruth have three children.
