2018-19: Held the second fastest Wildcat time in the 50 free with 22.40 which was fast enough to qualify for an NCAA B cut... Part of the 200 Free Relay team with a time of 1:28.43 which was fast enough to qualify for an NCAA A cut... Finished in the top-5 11 times in her events.

2017-18: Won the 100 free vs Utah…At Pac-12 Championships, earned NCAA B cuts in the 50 free (22.69) and 100 free (49.80)…Finished runner-up in the 100 back against USC…CSCAA Scholar All-America Honorable Mention.

High School: Four-time letter winner in freestyle at Bartlett High School…All-Conference all four years…MVP all four years…Eight academic all-conference honors…USA swimming scholastic All-American…Won conference and sectionals in the 50 and 100 free…Holds her school record in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay.

Personal: Born Kayla Faith Filipek to George and Miriam Filipek in January of 1999…Has a twin sister, Marina…Pursing a degree in optical sciences and engineering…Enjoys baking and reading in her free time…Chose Arizona over Texas A&M, University of Tennessee, and North Carolina State because “the team was very welcoming”
