Former University of Arizona standout Kim Stubbe rejoined the UA women’s tennis program as student volunteer assistant coach, head coach Vicky Maes announced on Sept. 29, 2014.
“Being an Arizona Wildcat means everything to me,” said Stubbe. “I always looked up to coach Maes as a player and now I get the opportunity to experience the game from the sidelines.”
“It’s an honor to be able to help coach my former teammates and continue to help a program that has means so much and has given so much to me.”
As a player, Stubbe found herself amongst the nation’s best for most of her collegiate playing career, as she was placed as high as No. 72 in the nation during the 2012-13 campaign, while she finished her career ranked 107th.
The Mol, Belguim native helped guide Arizona to the NCAA Tournament three times, including a trip to the second round of postseason play during the 2011-12 campaign.
Stubbe was a four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats, ending her career with a singles record of 54-22. She won a career-high 16 singles matches during her junior season (2012-13), while she earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team her sophomore year (2011-12).
Stubbe finished her collegiate career as Arizona’s primary No. 2 player, going 15-7 from court two her senior season.
