Doug Keen, who competed as a distance runner at the University of Arkansas, was a two-time national champion as he was a member of the 1986 cross country national championship team and the 1987 indoor track & field national championship team.

Considered one of the best coaches in Arizona high school track & field and cross country, Keen led Catalina Foothills to four 4A-I state titles as head coach in 2006, 2008 and 2009 and 2010. While at Catalina Foothills, Keen coached Dylan Souza to multiple individual state championships and would go on to compete for Arizona. Keen is also currently a professor at the University of Arizona.
