John Mosbach is the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Experience and Excellence and member of the ICA Leadership Team. He joined U of A in the fall of 2014 as Associate Athletic Director, Academics and was later promoted to his current position in 2020. Mosbach oversees C.A.T.S. Academics and C.A.T.S. Student-Athlete Development and serves as the Secondary Sport Administrator for Baseball and Soccer after previously serving as Primary Sport Administrator for Men's/Women's Swimming and Diving and Women’s Tennis.

During his tenure at Arizona, Mosbach has provided leadership resulting in significant improvements across the board, including elevating the cumulative student-athlete GPA from 2.87 to a record-setting 3.33 this past spring, a record 89% GSR in 2023, and a record 987 department APR. Beyond achievements in academics, Mosbach has been instrumental in the evolution of C.A.T.S. Student-Athlete Development, spearheading initiatives to cultivate student-athletes as leaders and prepare them for their careers.

Mosbach’ contributions extend beyond academics and student-athlete development. He chairs the Student-Athlete Conduct Advisory Committee, serves on the Health and Wellness committee, and is the Athletics representative on the University’s Hazing Prevention Coalition. He also takes the lead in managing Arizona Athletics' 5980 Academic Fund and co-chaired the Intercollegiate Athletics Strategic Plan Committee, where he assisted with the creation of the department’s first-ever comprehensive strategic plan titled "The Wildcat Way."

On a national level, Mosbach is a dedicated member of the N4A organization and has been part of numerous panels and workshops. He completed the organization’s Professional Development Institute (Leadership Track) and has served as faculty for the New Practitioner and Leader-Manager tracks. Mosbach also made valuable contributions as a member of the N4A/NBA Advisory Board.

Before joining the University of Arizona, Mosbach gained experience at the University of Southern California, eventually holding the position of Assistant Athletic Director. At USC, he managed the academic advising program and policies, eligibility certification, and summer school programs. His responsibilities also included academic advising for multiple sports and was a member of the SAAS personal development committee and coordinated the Guest Faculty program.

Mosbach holds a Master’s of Science in Sport Management from The University of Tennessee, where he served as a graduate assistant in athletic academic services. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and Sports Management from Wartburg College, graduating with honors in 2004. During his time at Wartburg, Mosbach was a three-year letter winner on the football team.

Mosbach and his wife, Godfrey, reside in Tucson with their children, Johnna and Mason.
