Krystal Swindlehurst was named Senior Associate Athletics Director for Human Resources, Internal Operations and Strategic Planning in January of 2018. Swindlehurst manages all human resources, organizational management and internal administration functions as well as overseeing Information Technology. Previously, she worked in the Central Michigan Athletics Department since 2013 after spending almost 13 years working in administrative roles on campus.
While at CMU, Swindlehurst was primarily responsible for the overall management and administration of the athletics department’s 29 million dollar budget, department human resource and employment matters, facilities and event operations, equipment operations and office professionals. She spent two years working as a consultant for the human resources offices at both CMU and Mid Michigan Community College (MMCC). She assisted both departments with issues related to employment, compensation, benefits and employee relations.
Previously, Swindlehurst spent nearly seven years as the office manager for the CMU Police Department. She was responsible for administration of a $2.1 million budget and handled the office administration and human resources tasks related to payroll, employment contracts, search processes, student supervision, purchasing and inventory. She also has professional experience in banking, manufacturing, and retail.
Swindlehurst also served as a fixed term faculty member in the College of Business Administration and in CMU’s First Year Experience program for first-year students.
Swindlehurst served on the Mid-Michigan Human Resource Association (MMHRA) board of directors as the Diversity Chair and the MI-CUPA board of directors as President Elect. She is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and holds a SHRM-CP certification. She has been a member of the College Athletic Business Management Association since 2014.
Swindlehurst holds a pair of degrees from CMU; a bachelor’s in entrepreneurship (2007) and a master’s in human resources administration (2010).
