Nathan Wiechers joined Arizona Athletics as Associate Director of Communication Services in September of 2019 following 12 years in the Media Relations office at Indiana University. He is the primary communications contact for Arizona Basketball, managing the day-to-day media relations and communications needs of the program.
Wiechers spent 12 seasons as the secondary contact for Indiana Basketball, including nine seasons of travel with the team. He assisted with all aspects of the day-to-day publicity efforts, including production of games notes, all printed collateral materials, working with television crews and social media strategy and content for @IndianaMBB, which has over one million followers on Twitter. Wiechers also oversaw the gameday statistical operations while providing the coaching staff with additional analytical data and analysis. The Hoosiers produced six NBA Draft picks in his last six seasons in Bloomington, including Victor Oladipo, OG Anunoby, Cody Zeller and Noah Vonleh.
Prior to his time at IU, Wiechers spent one season at Villanova as a Media Relations Assistant. He also worked with the Toledo Mud Hens, the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, for a season.
Wiechers was a three-year men’s basketball manager at Bowling Green as an undergrad with the last two seasons as the head student manager. He graduated in 2006 with a B.S. in Sports Management with an emphasis on Sports Information and a minor in Journalism. He and his wife Danacia have a son, Koye.
