Dave Murray was previously head coach and director of Arizona cross country and track and field from 1968-2002, building one of the top programs in the nation during that time. Under his direction, Arizona produced 28 individual national champions, nine Pac-10 champions and nearly 30 Olympians. Additionally, Arizona student-athletes earned All-America honors 166 times in both cross country and track and field.
Murray was named Pac-10 Cross Country Coach of the year eight times and the District VIII/West Region Cross Country Coach of the year six times and was also named the NCAA Men's Cross Country of the Year in 1984. He is a member of the University of Arizona Sports Hall of Fame, the Drake Relays Hall of Fame and the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame.
