2021 Season:
In his first year on staff, Jansson helped Arizona finish the season with a final rank of No. 27. With his guidance, the GymCats finished the season ranked No. 35 on the uneven bars. 

Before Arizona: 
Jansson was the head coach of the Univeristy of Illinois Chicago gymnastics team for 30 years before the program was cut in 2019. At UIC, Jansson helped the program win 12 conference titles, nine NCAA regional berths, and two NIT bids. Every school record, individual and team, was set under Jansson's guidance. 

Jansson coached multiple MIC Gymnast of the Year and Senior Athlete of the Year honorees. He has also coached three NCAA South Central Region Gymnast of the Year honorees, two Academic All-Americans, and 13 seasons of NACG/W Scholar Athletes. Jansson is a three-time NCAA South Central Region Head Coach of the Year. 

A native of Sweden, Jansson earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Stockholm in 1984 before completing his master's degree in exercise physiology from the Univeristy of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While working towards his master's degree, Jansson was an assistant for the gymnastics team at Illinois.
