Jennifer Mewes, Ph.D. has been a member of the C.A.T.S. Academics staff since 1993. Jennifer serves as the Senior Associate Director in C.A.T.S. Academics.  Jennifer is responsible for supervising and training all academic counselors in regards to academic advising and NCAA eligibility.  She coordinates the academic support program for Baseball, Football quarterbacks and Men’s and Women’s Golf, including eligibility, recruiting, academic advising, and progress to graduation and participate in regular meetings with coaches. In addition, Jennifer is the departmental liaison for the Scholarship Committee, Orientation, Residence Life, and the College Advising offices. Jennifer coordinates efforts with the C.AT.S. Life Skills Program, the Health & Wellness Committee, and the monthly CESAW (Compliance, Eligibility, and Student Athlete Well-being) meetings. Jennifer oversees all NCAA eligibility for incoming transfer student athletes and continuing eligibility for all currently enrolled student athletes.
 
She provides all data related to academic reports such as grade point averages, academic tracking, APR, GSR, and graduation and retention statistics.  Jennifer ensures compliance with all NCAA, Pac-12, ABOR and university rules and regulations (including FERPA Compliance and Academic Integrity).  In addition, Jennifer conducts a comprehensive assessment of all incoming student athletes on reading, writing, study habits, and learning styles.

Jennifer is the primary contact in C.A.T.S. Academics for our CATS Forever Program that assists former student athletes to return to campus and complete their degrees.
Jennifer received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from UCLA in 1991. She earned a Master's Degree from Springfield College in Athletic Counseling and has her Ph.D. from The University of Arizona in Special Education. She is a native of Southern California and lives in Tucson with her husband Alex and daughter Sydney.
