Final Stats

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona women's swimming and diving teams placed first in 12 out of 13 events this afternoon. With their 138-99 victory over the Bruins the Wildcats are now 3-0 on the season. The Cats also swam in an exhibition race against the California All-Stars today, winning the meet 131-73. The women competed at their home pool today, the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.

Arizona senior diver Kelley Persinger placed first in both the one and the three-meter events today. Persinger scored 192.70 points on the one-meter to edge past UCLA's Heidi Prosser who scored 192.30. On the three-meter Persinger scored 174.25 points to finish on top.

The 200y medley relay team of All-American junior Beth Botsford, sophomore Jessica Wagner, All-American senior Amy Bouta and sophomore Kristen Brennan clocked a 1:42.48 finish, beating the Bruins by almost four seconds. The Cats' 200y free relay team (senior Jenny Vanker, senior Sarah Tolar, freshman Jessica Hayes, senior Lindsey Highstrom) swam to a new top-time for the 2001-02 season as the final leg of the relay touched the wall at 1:34.25.

Also swimming to top-times for the season, Tolar in the 100y free (50.27) and Wagner in the 200y breast (2:15.15).

The next outing for Arizona will be Nov. 30-Dec. 2 when the men's and women's swimming teams will travel to the University of Texas for the Texas Invitational.
