TUCSON, Ariz.- Sophomore Kim Glass became the fastest player in school history
to record 1,000 career kills, but it wasn't enough as Arizona fell in four
games to No. 9 Stanford at Maples Pavilion on Thursday. Games scores of the
match were 30-28, 30-25, 31-33, 30-24.
The loss, which snapped Arizona?s conference winning streak at three
straight, dropped the Wildcats to 10-12 overall and 4-7 in the Pac-10.
Glass, who finished with 24 kills in the loss to the Cardinal, tallied the
career century mark in kills in her 54th all-time contest, a full 11 matches
faster then former Wildcat All-American Barb Bell.
Classmates Jennifer Abernethy and Bre Ladd added 19 kills on .455 hitting and
16 kills on .370 hitting, respectively, for the Wildcats.
Stanford (16-5, 9-3) was paced by Ogonna Nnamani?s 21 kills and Kristin
Richard?s 16.
The Wildcats will cross the bay for a Halloween match up in Berkeley against
No. 6-ranked Cal on Friday. First serve for the match is set for 8 pm Tucson
time.
