TEMPE, Ariz.- The No.16-ranked Arizona baseball team remained winless in its last five games after dropping a non-conference game, 4-0, against in state rival Arizona State in Tempe on Tuesday. The Wildcats fell to 5-4-1 on the season with the loss, while the No. 12 Sun Devils improved to 9-2 and stretched their winning streak over UA to four straight games.

ASU jumped out to the early 4-0 lead, scoring two runs apiece in the first and second innings off of UA starter Kevin Guyette (1-2), and then rode the arm of sophomore Brett Bordes to victory

The Sun Devil southpaw held the Arizona offense in check, giving up just three hits over six scoreless innings. He struck out a career-high 10 Arizona batters and walked just three for his first win of the season.

ASU Reliever Pat Bresnehan combined with Bordes to hold the Wildcats hitless over the final five innings of play while adding five strikeouts.

Sun Devil junior Dustin Pedroia, the 2003 co-Pac-10 Player of the year, led the Devils with a pair of doubles en route to a 2 for 4 day at the plate. Classmate Jeff Larish added a pair of hits and a RBI and freshman Joe Persichina added two RBI on 1 of 3 hitting.

Arizona leadoff hitter John Hardy was the lone Wildcat to tally multiple hits, finishing 2 for 4 on the night.

The Wildcats will return to action this weekend in Waco, Texas ,in a three-game series against No. 15-ranked Baylor.
