WINDERMERE, Fla. - The University of Arizona men's golf team was in action Sunday in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational, one of the premiere events in all of collegiate golf. Tarquin MacManus took the round-one lead with a 69 (-3).
Arizona finished the first day in 10th place, carding a 302 (+14). Arizona is 12 strokes back of TCU and Stanford, who are tied for the lead with two rounds to play. In the 15-team field, Arizona leads three Top-10 teams. No. 10 Georgia is 11th, No. 1 Florida is 12th and No. 6 Texas is tied for 14th.
MacManus got off to a rough start, bogeying the first hole, before rebounding and eventually birdying the par-five 17th to grab the lead and break out of what was a four-way tie for second.
Phil Bagdade shot a rare par-four eagle on the 12th; the junior is tied for 27th. Jonathan Khan shot a 78 (+6) and is tied for 50th. Trent Redfern is tied for 66th and Eric Oja is tied for 70th.
Round two is tomorrow, Oct. 25, and the third round is Tuesday with tee times starting at 5:30 a.m. MST. Live stats will be available at golfstat.com.
