WINDERMERE, Fla. - Tarquin MacManus earned his second top-10 finish of the season, finishing in a tie for eighth at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational. The team finished 15th, concluding the tournament at 68-over par.
Alabama, ranked No. 5 by Golfstat, took the team title by two strokes over No. 12 LSU. The Crimson Tide was 20-over in their victory. The No. 1-ranked team, Florida, tied for third with No. 18 Stanford, as the two posted identical scores of 894 (+30). TCU and No. 2 Oklahoma State tied for fifth.
Individually, it was the nation's third best golfer, according to Golfstat, Bank Vongvanij of Florida, taking home the individual medal, finishing four-under. His third-round 68 (-4) was one of only two scores better than par on the day and moved him from T6 to a two-stroke victory. The day-two leader Robin Wingardh of Tennessee fell to second, carding a 75 (+3) on the final 18.
MacManus' top-10 finish was his second of the season, 14th of his career and third in four events, dating back to last year. His teammates, however, could not offer the senior much support; no other Wildcat finished in the top 50. Sophomore Trent Redfern shot a 75 (+3) in the third round, a nice score in comparison with the rest of the field's third round, and moved into 56th place. Jonathan Khan finished 23-over in 64th place. Phil Bagdade was a stroke worse than Khan, finishing in a tie for 65th. Eric Oja was 30 over par.
The Arizona men's golf team is in action again Nov. 8-10 in the Gifford Collegiate at CordeValle as the Cats round out their fall schedule.
