Kieren Thompson and Carlos Bermudez each advanced to the final round of singles play at the 2012 Easley Memorial Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. Thompson competed in the Flight One singles championship round while Bermudez represented Arizona in the Flight Two consolation singles championship, both matches were held at UNLV's At Fertitta Tennis Complex.
In Flight One play, Thompson battled Rifat Biktyokov from Oklahoma State. The two fought a close first set but Thompson was edged, 7-5. In the second set, Thompson fell once again, 6-2. The loss marked Thompson's only singles loss of the weekend.
In Flight Two action, Bermudez took on UNLV's Willie Sublette. The Arizona sophomore dominated the match, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. The win clinched the Flight Two Consolation Singles title for Bermudez.
The Cats will be back in action on Nov. 9 as they travel to Sarasota, Fla. for their final tournament of the fall season.
