Wyoming Cowboy Classic Final Results
TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona Wildcat men's golf team finished the third round of the Tenth Annual Wyoming Cowboy Classic presented by Cleveland Golf/Srixon at the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. in a three-way tie for sixth place with Kansas and Wichita State with a final score of 836 (-4). The North Course at Talking Stick is a Par-70, 7133-yard course.
In the team race, Kansas State hit a 281 to claim first place with a final total of 826 (-14). With a third-round score of 276, Colorado finished in second place with a total of 828 (-12). San Diego finished in third place with an 11-under 829. Individually, Kansas State's Ben Juffer and Colorado State's Mike Wuertz finished at 12-under (198), with Juffer taking the victory by playoff. Wichita State's Rafael Becker and Colorado's Beau Schoolcraft finished in a tie for third with final totall of 201 (-9).
For Arizona, freshman Brenden Redfern, who competed as an individual, carded a career-low third-round of 64 (-6) to finish in seventh place (203/-7). The event marks Redfern's first career top-10 finish, and the first event where he has finished under par.
Also in the top-20, freshman Tucker Wadkins recorded his best finish since the Arizona Intercollegiate (Jan. 30-31) with a final of 206 (-4) for a tie for eleventh place. Wadkins' first-round score of 67 marks a new career low since he hit a second-round 69 at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate. Junior Juan Pablo Hernandezfinished in a tie for 17th with a final total of 208 (-2). Hernandez's under-par finish was his first since the Arizona Intercollegiate.
In the final round, Junior Trent Redfernimproved five places to finish in a tie for 24th with a final of 209 (-1). This marks the first time this season that Redfern has finished an event below par, and his best finish since the Fresno State Lexus Classic (March 5-6). Redfern's first-round score of 67 marks a season low.
Up next, the Wildcats will travel to Corvallis, Oregon to compete in the Pac-12 Championships April 27-29.
