TUCSON - The University of Arizona Wildcat No. 14 men's and No. 8 women's track and field teams concluded competition in the combined events portion of the Pac-12 Championships. The meet was held at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

Senior Liana Fuentes finished the competition with 5,295 points, good for sixth place overall. Sophomore Amber Passalaqua had a personal-best score of 5,096 points, finishing in eighth place. In the long jump, Fuentes had a season-best jump of 18-8 (5.69m). That mark earned Fuentes a tie for fifth place in the event. Passalaqua came in 10th place, jumping 17-11.75 (5.48m). Fuentes took second place in the javelin throw, her mark of 143-10 (43.85m) was the second-best of her career. Passalaqua had a personal-best toss of 100-5 (30.61m), good for 10th place. In the 800-meter run, Fuentes clocked a personal-best time of 2:27.61, good for 12th place. Passalaqua's personal-best time of 2:22.21 was good for sixth place.

Fuentes scored three points for the UA women and Passalaqua added one point to the team total. The women's standings heading into the main portion of the Pac-12 Championships are: Colorado (11 points), Oregon (10 points), Arizona State (eighth points), UCLA (four points), Arizona (four points) and Utah (two points).

Freshman Harrison Ivie finished in 10th place with a personal-best score of 6,637 points. In the 110-meter hurdles, Ivie clocked a personal-best time of 16.03, good for 13th place. Ivie also had a personal-best mark in the discus, throwing 129-7 (41.85m) and taking third place in the event. Ivie cleared 14-1.25 (4.30m) in the pole vault, earning a tie for ninth place in the event. Ivie set a personal-best mark in the javelin throw, his toss of 176-4 (53.74m) was good for second place in the event. In the 1,500-meter run, Ivie clocked a time of

"Liana (Fuentes) and Amber (Passalaqua) competed their hearts out," assistant coach Sheldon Blockburger said. "They did the best they could and ended up scoring four points for us. So we're on the board and very happy about that. Harrison (Ivie) had a big personal best and he can't wait to back next year. He's already excited and he wants to score for his team. Overall, it was a really good day for us."

The main ticket office at the Moshofsky Center will be open Monday, May 7 through Friday, May 11. Those wishing to purchase tickets beginning on Saturday, May 12 will need to do so at Hayward Field. The ticket windows at Hayward Field will open 90 minutes prior to the start of competition. Access to the Pac-12 heptathlon and decathlon is free of charge. All-Session passes and individual day tickets to the 2012 Pac-12 Championships are now available through the Oregon Athletic Ticket Office.
