The Arizona Wildcat men's tennis team wrapped up the second day of play at the Aggie Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M.
In doubles action, Giacomo Miccini and Sumeet Shinde took on Daniel Fernandez and Naveen Manivannan. The Wildcat duo was topped, 8-4. Matt Dunn and Ben Lee played Matthieu Covizzi and Omar Lopez from Western New Mexico. Dunn and Lee were edged, 8-6.
In singles play, Miccini took on Fernandez in the quarterfinals. Miccini clinched the first set, 6-3 but dropped the second set 7-5. He came back to win the third set, 6-3, and claimed the match. In his second match of the day Miccini fell to Hans Hach from Alibene Christian, 4-1, retired.
Dunn played two matches in consolation singles. In his first match he took on Yannick Black from New Mexico State. He won the match, 6-3, 6-2. In his second match he beat Alfredo Desiati, 6-4, 6-3.
Shinde won two singles matches the first of which was played against Stahinja Trecakov from New Mexico State. The Pune, India native won the match, 6-1, 6-2. In his second match of the day, Shinde defeated Guilherme Gesser from Alibene Christian, 6-1, 6-3.
Lee split the day as he fell to Alvaro Nunez from Western New Mexico, 7-5, 6-2. In his second match of the day he defeated Kyle Plum from Alibene Christian, 6-1, 7-6 (1).
Play wrap up in Las Cruces on Sunday. Play will begin at 9 a.m.
