The Arizona Wildcat men's tennis team wrapped up play at the 2012 Aggie Invitational on Sunday. The Cats sent Giacomo Miccini, Sumeet Shinde, Matt Dunn and Ben Lee to the tournament in Las Cruces, N.M.
In doubles play, the Wildcat duos fell in two matches. Miccini and Shinde took on Luis Ramirez and Marc Westgate from hosting New Mexico State. The Wildcat team was topped, 8-6. Lee and Dunn teamed up to play Guilherme Gesser and Alfredo Desiati from Alibene Christian. The teams fought a close battle but the Wildcats were edged in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (4).
In singles play, Dunn and Shinde battled it out in consolation singles. Dunn, a freshman from Tucson, topped Shinde, a sophomore from Pune, Inida, 6-3, 6-2.
Lee took on Eduardo Cabrita from New Mexico State. The sophomore from New Canan, Conn. Fell, 6-2, 6-4.
Miccini was set to play Ramirez for third place in the singles draw, the match was left unplayed.
The Cats will be back in action on Sept. 29 as they travel to Tulsa, Okla. for the ITA Men's All American Championships.
