Wildcats Sweep Day Two of Wildcat Diving Invite; Women Defeat Boise State

TUCSON, Ariz. - For the second straight day, the Arizona Wildcats swept the competition at the Wildcat diving invitational at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center on Saturday.

In the Wildcat diving invitational Samantha Pickens made it 2-for-2 after winning the 1-meter championship with a score of 294.25. Pickens took the 3-meter title yesterday. 

On the men's side, Rafael Quintero took first in the 3-meter championship (409.20) with Carter Craft in third (359.50) and Dominic Ricotta in fifth (330.95). The Wildcats swept the two events for the second straight day.

 The women's swim team was also in action as they defeated Boise State in dual competition. Emma Schoettmer took first in the 50 yard breaststroke (29.59), with Sara Borendame in second (29.92) and Eve Sarris in third (30.23). Schoettmer was also part of the first place 200 yard medley relay team (1:42:00) which also included Bonnie Brandon, Katja Hajdinjak, and Taylor Schick. She also took first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.20.

Bonnie Brandon took first in the women's 200 yard IM with a final time of 2:04.50. She finished just ahead of Shannyn Hultin (2:07.11). Brandon also took first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.92.

Margo Geer took first in the 50 yard freestyle (23.14) with Taylor Schick right behind her in second (23.59).  Geer also took first in the 100 yard freestyle (49.87), this time being followed by Schick in third (51.73) and Eve Sarris in fourth (53.53).

Arizona dominated the 50 yard backstroke with Alana Pazevic in first (26.42), Ashley Evans in second (27.17), and Leticia Lelli in fourth (27.39). The Wildcats also won the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:34.96) with Taylor Schick, Katja Hajdinjak, Elizabeth Pepper, and Alana Pazevic.

The final day of the Wildcat Diving invitational begins at 11 A.M. tomorrow, and will feature the platform competition.
