Jaruvang Records Third Straight Win at ITA Regionals

MALIBU, Calif.--- Junior Jason Jaruvang was the lone Wildcat in action on Sunday and he made the most of his opportunity, as he easily took down Grand Canyon's Adrian Legarreta 6-1, 6-1 on day three of the ITA Southwest Regional Championships.

The win marked the Jaruvang's third straight in consolation play after being narrowly defeated by UCLA's Austin Rapp, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 in the opening round of the tournament. The junior now improves to 6-2 in overall singles play this fall after posting a 3-1 mark over the weekend.

Senior Naoki Takeda also had himself a nice regional showing, as he won his first two matches to advance all the way to the round of 32 before his tournament run came to an end, dropping a tough one to USC's No. 47 Max de Vroome, 6-4, 6-1.

In doubles action, it was Matt Dunn and Jaruvang who led the way for the Cats, as the tandem fell just short of a quarterfinal berth, falling to UCLA's Mackenzie McDonald and Redlicki (8-1) in the round of 16.

Sunday marked Arizona's final day at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, as the Cats now set their sights on the UNLV Invitational on Oct. 31- Nov. 2nd in Las Vegas, Nevada.
