LAS VEGAS--- Arizona dominated day one of the Larry Easley Memorial Classic, as every Wildcat picked up at least one victory on Friday.
Juniors Matt Dunn and Trevor James led the way for UA, as both strung together consecutive victories to advance to flight two semifinals action.
Dunn easily defeated Seminole State College's Kennan Dishman in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 before grinding out a dramatic 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 victory over Northern Arizona's Tomas Hons to clinch his spot in the semis.
James followed suit, as he dismantled Grand Canyon's Meidy Chazeau 6-3, 6-3 before earning an inspiring come-from-behind win over Oregon's Brent Chin 6-7(3), 6-3, 7-5 to reach the semifinals.
Both Dunn and James capped off a perfect 3-0 day in doubles action, where Dunn teamed up with Shoki Kasahara to easily take down Grand Canyon's Maroscher/Chazeau 8-1. James and Romain Boudaroua partnered up and produced a similar performance, defeating Mesa College's Rast/McMahon duo 8-1.
After dropping their opening round singles matches, Kasahara and Boudaroua were both able to rebound, as Kasahara dominated Mesa College's Duong Nguyen 6-0, 6-1, while Boudaroua earned a straight set victory over Grand Canyon's Adrian Legarreta 6-4, 6-2 in flight one of consolation play.
Arizona looks to improve upon its 8-2 opening day record tomorrow. Action will get underway at 9 a.m. MST.
