TUCSON – No. 15 Arizona volleyball fell in four sets to Colorado (15-25, 25-18, 20-25, 18-15) on Friday night in McKale Center despite 19 kills from Madi Kingdon.
Arizona (17-6, 6-5 Pac-12) hit just .098 in the match while the Buffaloes (14-9, 6-5 Pac-12) hit .221.
The Wildcats outdug Colorado 64-59, led by Penina Snuka's 15 digs. The sophomore setter had her 17th double-double of the season as she added 36 assists. Ronni Lewis (13) and Kennedy Wesley (11) also contributed double-digit digs.
Snuka was also in on four blocks, including two solo stuffs. Jacobson added four of her own, all in the second set. Colorado outblocked the Cats 9.0-7.0.
The Buffs were led by Taylor Simpson's 17 kills. Alexis Austin added 16 for Colorado.
Eleven straight Colorado points in the middle of the first set, turning an 11-8 UA lead into a 19-11 deficit, helped the Buffs take the first set 25-15. The Buffaloes hit .385 in the first set.
The two teams split the first 30 points of the second set before Arizona used three straight points to ignite a 10-3 run to take the second set 25-18. McKenzie Jacobson picked up four blocks in the set.
Colorado took the first five points of the third set and cruised from there, winning the third set 25-20 while holding Arizona to a .100 hitting percentage.
The Buffs used a 7-0 run in the fourth, helping them to a 25-18 victory. Kingdon had seven kills in the frame.
The Cats return home to take on Colorado (Oct. 31) and Utah (Nov. 1). Both games begin at 6 p.m.
