
Marker and Austin Advance to Round of 16 in Regional Play

SAN DIEGO, Calif.--- The fifth seeded doubles tandem of No 43 ranked junior Lauren Marker and senior Shayne Austin will be competing in the doubles round of 16 tomorrow after defeating GCU's Marie Deleval and Sofia Helgstrand by a score of 8-1 on Friday during day-two of the ITA Southwestern Regional Tournament.
Marker and Austin will be the only Wildcat duo competing tomorrow, as the freshman tandem of Camila Wesbrooks and Kinga Gartner fell to UCSB's Palina Dubavets and Stefani Stojic, 8-4.
Third seeded Marker won her first singles match of the day against Fullerton sophomore Danielle Pham (6-4, 6-2), making her the only Wildcat to advance to the round of 16 where she lost a hard fought match to 16seeded USC freshman Jessica Failla.
Marker and Austin will pick up where they left off tomorrow at 9 a.m. against Fullerton's Camille Deleon and Alexis Rae Valenzuela in the doubles round of 16.
