TUCSON, Ariz. – Junior Jaden DeGracie, senior Sheaffer Skadsen and sophomore Gabi Stoian were named to the District 8 2015-16 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team on Thursday. DeGracie and Skadsen were first team selections while Stoian was a second team selection.
Since they earned first-team honors, DeGracie and Skadsen advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot. First, second and third team All-America honorees will be chosen later this month.
DeGracie currently holds a 3.94 GPA while being a Pre-Physiology major, Skadsen boasts a 4.0 GPA while studying Public Health and Stoian has a 3.35 GPA while being a Pre-Family Studies & Human Development major.
This is the second straight year that Skadsen has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team and she is also a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic First Team selection. DeGracie was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team last season and this is her first CoSIDA award since attending the University of Arizona. This is also the first time that Stoian has been named to an All-Academic list, but she was named to the second team on the 2014 All-Pac-12 list.
Not only have all three succeeded in the classroom, they have been an integral part of the team on the pitch this season as well. Stoian leads the team with six goals, eight assists and 20 points. DeGracie is second on the team in assists as she has four and is second on the all-time Arizona assist list with 16. Skadsen has been Arizona's anchor this season as she has played in 1,448 of the 1,465 possible minutes this season on the back line.
Both Stoian and Skadsen have been recognized by the Pac-12 Conference this season as they have both earned Pac-12 Player of the Week. Stoian won it on Aug. 25 and Skadsen won it on Sept. 29.
The Wildcats are set to face Colorado and Utah this weekend on the road. They will go up against Colorado on Friday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. MST on the Pac-12 Networks and then travel to Salt Lake City, Utah to play the Utes on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. MST.
