BOULDER, Colo. - No. 19 Arizona fell to Colorado in three sets (14-25, 23-25, 19-25). In the loss, senior Halli Amaro recorded two blocks, giving her 401 for her career.
"Colorado played more physical than we did tonight," said head coach Dave Rubio. "We struggled to execute our serve-receive as a result, which hurt our ability to score. We need to regroup for next week when we play USC and UCLA."
Freshman outside hitter, Tyler Spriggs, posted a career high hitting percentage of 0.471. She contributed nine kills and three blocks, totaling eleven points for the Cats.
Sophomore middle blocker, Mckenzie Jacobson, had five kills on the night with a 0.444 hitting percentage and one block.
Colorado blitzed Arizona out of the gates, scoring eight of the match's first 10 points and cruised to a 25-14 opening-set victory.
The Cats were unable to capitalize on a strong second set. They started off the set 3-0 and held on to the lead until Colorado tied it at nine. From there, the Buffs held a steady lead resulting in a 23-25 win. Arizona recorded the most kills in the second set with 14.
Colorado carried its momentum into the third set. Despite Arizona's fight, the set ended with a 19-25 loss for the Cats.
