Snuka, Mau Earn All-Region Recognition

TUCSON, Ariz. – Junior setter Penina Snuka was named first-team AVCA All-Pacific South-Region while junior outside hitter Kalei Mau was named to the honorable mention, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.
This marks Snuka's second consecutive year being named to the all-region squad while Mau is receiving the citation for the first time.
Snuka and Mau led Arizona to its third straight NCAA Tournament, helping the Cats to a 19-14 campaign.
Snuka, an all-Pac-12 performer, is the conference leader in total assists with 1,349 and second in assists per set with 10.88. She is second on the team averaging 3.36 digs per set. Snuka leads the conference in double-doubles with 22, including 11 of Arizona's final 12 matches. The junior is fifth in Arizona history with 3,779 career assists and fourth in career digs with 1,209, the most of any setter in Arizona history.
Mau, also an all-Pac-12 performer, a year after averaging 1.27 kills in 49 sets, is third in the Pac-12 with 4.33 kills/set. Her 489 kills this season are ninth in Arizona history while her 27 matches with double-digit kills are sixth. Mau had 18-or-more kills in 14 of her last 24 matches, including eight 20-plus-kill matches.
The all-region inclusion sets both up for consideration for AVCA All-America.
