TUCSON, Ariz.--- Junior Naoki Takeda was able to win his ninth straight singles match and secure his first win since being ranked No. 58 in the nation earlier this week, but it wasn't enough, as Arizona dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 70 Nevada, Saturday out at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center, snapping what was a season-long four-match win streak.
Arizona (5-6) dropped the doubles point for just the second time all season, as Nevada (1-2) managed to capture victories on courts one and two to put the Pack in front 1-0.
Nevada then spotted itself a 2-0 advantage, after Robert Allan defeated Shoki Kasahara 6-4, 6-2 on court five.
But the Wildcats didn't go down easily, as Robin Chou (4-3, 2-1 Dual) put UA on the board, earning a dramatic 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Robert Margitfalvi from the No. 5 spot to vault the Cats right back in it, down just 2-1.
However, Nevada fired back with two straight victories from the No. 4 and 2 spots to clinch the victory, as David Mushayev fell 6-4, 6-4 on court four and No. 74 Sumeet Shinde dropped a 7-5, 6-3 contest on court two.
Takeda (16-3, 8-0) was dominant from the No. 1 position, as he earned a straight-set 6-4, 7-5 victory over Moez Chargui to stay perfect in dual play. Arizona now boasts a 10-1 overall record from the No. 1 spot so far this spring.
Nevada then claimed one more win on court three to bring the final to 5-2.
Arizona will get back after it next week, when it takes on No. 53 Tulane, Tuesday at 11 am MST out at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center to close out its season-long 12-match homestand.
