Wildcats Wrap-Up Day Two at The Goodwin

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona men's golf team completed the second round of play in Palo Alto at the Stanford hosted The Goodwin tournament today. They ended the round with a 294 (+14), earning them 21th place out of 24. Freshman George Cunningham was back at the top of the lineup today as he carded a -3 (67) with five birdies throughout the course. This moved him to a tie for 42nd place.
“Today was better for me,” commented freshman golfer George Cunningham, “Yesterday I wasn't thinking very well out there and it cost me. Today I was much more relaxed and played the game that I am used to playing. I drove the ball very well and putted well also, so I was very pleased with how I played. This gives me some good momentum for tomorrow.
Junior Kolton Lapa carded a 74 (+4) today, netting two birdies on the back nine. This puts him in a tie for 82nd place. Junior Brenden Redfern finished today's round with a 75 (+5), earning him a share of the 69th slot. Senior Alex McMahon was hot on his heels with a 78 (+8). McMahon has moved into 122nd place overall. Freshman Peter Koo captured an eagle on the seventh hole today, allowing him to take a 79 (+9). This is enough for a share of 118th place.
“We are still looking for better play from the bottom of our lineup,” remarked head men's golf coach Jim Anderson, “We desperately need some of our experienced players to step up with confidence. I think we are allowing bad shots to carry over and we are beating ourselves up on the course. George was back to his regular self today and we are happy to see him post a red number. He will keep it up tomorrow and hopefully we can get a couple to follow his lead.”
