TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona men's golf team is traveling to Pebble Beach tomorrow to play in the St. Mary's Invitational. St. Mary's has invited 14 other teams from across the nation for the tournament. The five Wildcats to compete in the team competition are Jordan Gumberg, Jake Kreuz, Kolton Lapa, Max Donohue and Tyler Moore. Andrew Garner will be competing as an individual.
Teams will play at the Poppy Hills Golf Course, a par-71, 6,868-yard course. They will complete over 54 holes, 18 holes a day. The low four scores from each round will compose the team score.
“We're excited to get started,” said head men's golf coach Jim Anderson. “The guys have been working extremely hard for the last couple of months in preparation for the season. I'm looking forward to seeing what Kolton can do in his first tournament as a senior. Max and Jake were key players last year and they'll bring a veteran presence to our lineup. I'm also looking forward to Jordan, Tyler and Andrew getting a chance to compete for us.”
This is Arizona's first time competing in the St. Mary's Invitational. Gumberg, Moore, and Garner will be making their debut for Arizona against a field that includes defending champion San Diego.
