
Marker Begins Fall Season Ranked at No. 43

SKILMANN, N.J.-- University of Arizona junior Lauren Marker is ranked at No. 43 in the nation in the initial Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason singles poll released by the organization on Tuesday.
The ranking is the highest Marker has been placed in her collegiate career. Her previous high was 54th back on April 7, 2015. Marker has now been ranked in 15 out of the last 16 singles polls going back to her freshman year.
“Lauren grew significantly as a player last year,” head coach Vicky Maes said. “She worked hard and added to her game. As a result, she was rewarded with several great wins and a solid NCAA ranking. It's good to see her start at 43 this year, but I know she will do everything in her power to improve on that throughout the season.”
Marker is coming off a strong sophomore season which saw her be selected to participate in the NCAA Individual Championship tournament. She was named an All- Pac- 12 Honorable Mention and finished the season 23-10, going 16-5 in dual play. She led the team in overall wins and dual wins.
Marker has also been selected to participate in the qualifying round of the prestigious 2015 Riviera/ITA Women's Tennis All-American Championships beginning on Sept. 28th in Malibu, Calif.
